| LPO: REDEFINING CHANGE | 18/10/2007 15:00:24 |
| | “I feared change until I found that even the most beautiful butterfly had to undergo metamorphosis before it could fly.”- a transformation that was inevitable and an unending saga of nature. In contrast to the above this change was also inevitable, but led by a distinctive force in an economy like India heralding in the top 5 contenders. Yes I am talking about a paradigm shift in the legal work-force of our country, with the advent of LPO’s. It broke the old ideology that lawyering is to flaunt your skills on this land itself, thereby generating a much wider ground for the lawyers to explore and enhance their skills.
Rather a global platform has been provided to these lawyers who has been said to be the inevitable victims of this paralytic system both in terms of money as well as growth. Well, exceptions always accompany a law.
Talking about the main concern of my article, i.e., LPO’s (Legal Process Outsourcing) that has currently occupied the arena of debate. It has generated a stark shift in the productive growth of our nation. Yes in a layman’s language in an LPO work is being generated from a country abroad to our own country. A lawman would probably say that in an LPO work is being outsourced from a country reigning on the principles of Common Law System to a low-cost productive country. To an utter surprise a system that has even been recognized in our country. So a 24x7 work-force culture has been generated by these LPO’s, encompassing the major legal outputs of our country, generally the youths. Interestingly they prefer doing such work sitting in a cool ambience rather than running behind lawyers.
The reason why these LPO’S have occupied these young minds is its flexibility and the quality-standard work. Amidst all other concerns it generate an environment with all probable means of nurturing the best potentials available with highest canons of ethics.
This is just the beginning of any major revolution in our legal work- force. Undoubtedly this LPO culture would have a set -back upon our litigation system but change is even the law of nature, isn’t it?
